Rebel Roots at New York Fashion Week: The Silk Road Runway
On September 12, Rebel Roots took the runway at The Silk Road, a South Asian fashion show held during New York Fashion Week. Pre-draped sarees, a tailored co-ord and statement dresses walked before a packed room, styled with jewelry by Khona Kreations.
What is The Silk Road show?
The Silk Road is a fashion show celebrating South Asian design, founded and produced by Pankti Doshi. Its September 12 edition during New York Fashion Week brought runway designers, jewelry partners, vendors, artists and press together in one room, with Rebel Roots among the featured labels.
Which Rebel Roots pieces walked the runway?
All ten pieces in the current collection walked, across the monochrome Capsule edit, the color-block Buckle edit and the printed Forest Floor collection.

Rebel Roots was started for women who love the saree but want it to fit the way they live now. Every saree on the runway came pre-draped, so it goes on in minutes, with no pleating skills needed. That ease is what lets a saree sit next to a power suit and a corset dress in the same show.

Do Rebel Roots pre-draped sarees need a petticoat?
No. The Capsule, Buckle and Rooted Canopy sarees come lined and pre-draped, so no petticoat or underskirt is needed.
What sizes are available?
Tops and dresses run from XS to 2X (XXS in some styles), and sarees come in two lengths: Short for 5'4" and under, Tall for 5'5" and above.
